The team of SBIC Noordwijk spent most of this week in Tallinn, Estonia, for the European Space Week 2017. EUSW2017 is the biggest space business event in Europe, and combined events such as the Copernicus Accelerator Bootcamp, the Garage48 Space Hackathon, the Satellite Masters Conference, the opening of the new ESA BIC Estonia, and of course the Award Ceremony of the ESNC and the Copernicus Masters.
Various dignitaries, from ESA Director-General Jan Wörner to the Estonian Minister of Entrepreneurship and IT Urve Palo took the stage to remind the audience that European programs such as Copernicus and Galileo have a lot to offer – not just for space but especially for business ventures here on Earth. Luckily, most attendants did not have to be reminded of this, and are already hard at work at building sustainable companies based on satellite data.
It was therefore very inspiring to meet such a big Dutch delegation in the Estonian capital, many of whom are members of the SBIC community. Partners, incubatees and alumni of ESA BIC Noordwijk are involved in many different roles; from Copernicus Accelerator mentor or mentee, to ESNC or Copernicus Masters winner!
