What is the focus of UbiOps and what is at the heart of your business?

At its core, UbiOps is a cloud-agnostic machine learning operations (MLops) and ML infrastructure platform. Our primary focus is to empower startups, data scientists or anyone with a trained ML model to seamlessly transition from model development to production deployment. This eliminates the need to hire dedicated ML engineers and allows our users to concentrate more on enhancing the quality of their models. What sets us apart from other MLops platforms is our unique ability to offer hybrid cloud control. With a single control plane, you can effortlessly manage both on-premises and cloud facilities.

What are the challenges for cloud infrastructure right now?

The challenges in cloud infrastructure are multifaceted. For startups and incubatees, a prominent issue is their dependency on a single cloud provider. Initially, they may be enticed by generous amounts of free credits but they often discover hidden costs, such as egress fees. UbiOps addresses this challenge by enabling users to switch between cloud and on-prem resources with a simple click, without the need for extensive code modifications or infrastructure changes.

How can you help our space business community?

We aim to facilitate the incorporation of AI and ML technologies into space-related projects. UbiOps is poised to assist the space business community by sharing expertise on the transition of AI/ML models to production environments. We offer valuable insights and practical assistance to startups through workshops, guides and tutorials that cover the deployment of AI models.

What recent developments in your company will benefit the SBIC partnership?

In recent times, we have introduced the capability to train AI/ML models directly on our platform. This feature ensures that UbiOps users have a comprehensive, user-friendly platform to manage their AI/ML workflows. Furthermore, our virtual machine (VM) solution allows startups to easily switch between compute resources.

What technical support can the ESA BIC startups make use of?

ESA BIC startups can access our robust UbiOps platform as their primary resource for training and deploying their AI and ML models. Additionally, they can leverage the expertise of our product specialists who can provide guidance and support, particularly for less experienced startups looking to deploy their models in production environments. For example, we’ve helped the ESA BIC incubatee Reef Support with setting up their computing vision models via UbiOps (discover more here).

What draws you to our space community?

The space community offers a realm of untapped potential for harnessing the power of AI/ML. Whether it’s through generative AI or advanced computer vision operations, the possibilities for collaboration and innovation are limitless. The fusion of AI and space exploration is an exciting frontier with vast opportunities for scientific breakthroughs and technological advancements.

What’s your favourite thing about space?

My favourite aspect of space is its boundless potential for scientific exploration and discovery. Space provides a canvas for humanity to uncover the origins of the universe, investigate the possibility of life on other planets, and expand our understanding of the cosmos. Its vastness and enigmatic nature inspire wonder and curiosity, driving us to explore and expand our knowledge.
