This weekend the Copernicus Hackathon 2018 took place in PLNT, Leiden. Attendees started on Saturday morning, after a warm welcome at the event location. When the teams were created everyone started working on their own idea or concept. All attendees worked very hard, for many hours, to have a chance of becoming the winning team, under the guidance of our solid and devoted mentors.
On Sunday afternoon the pitches took place. All teams had incredible ideas and concepts. The jury was excited and had a hard time to select a winner. Finally, they decided that the idea to use Copernicus data for detecting leaks in pipes with drinkwater should be the winner of the contest. The idea is socially responsible, the team and their presentation were very strong and the idea eventually won because of the feasibility of the concept. Second place went to the team that came up with the idea and concept to detect salinization in coast areas before they become visible.
